The Arlberg Ski Area is a legendary destination. It is known as the Cradle of alpine skiing and attracts die-hard enthusiasts from around the world. St Anton is the biggest and best resort in the Arlberg ski area and is Iglu Ski’s top selling Austrian resort. The high rising peaks and colossal alpine scenery set the high standards that this modern ski holiday town maintains across all aspects of the resort. The incredible ski area is made up of 350km of pistes with superb slopes for all abilities. The region has always attracted many intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders due to the high number of red, black and off piste routes that push even the most seasoned rider to their limits.

1. See the amazing views from Valluga

On a clear day you can see the mountain peaks of 5 countries at the 2811m high viewpoint, from the surrounding mountains in Austria, to Italy in the South, Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west and Germany in the north. There are not many places you can encounter this extraordinary experience.

2. Go to Rendl

Do a few ski runs. Pull up a deck chair on Rendl Beach. Admire the views. Bask in the sunshine. Grab a drink from the bar. Get a photo by the St Anton sign. Try your best at the snowpark. The perfect afternoon on the Rendl mountain.

3. Explore the neighbouring ski resorts

The Arlberg ski area has brilliant transportation routes by ski lifts, bus, train and taxi making it easy to explore the superb surrounding ski resorts. From St Anton you can quickly ski to St Christoph and Stuben, then you can take the new Flexenbahn gondola from Stuben to Lech and Zürs. This new cableway has created Austria’s largest linked ski area and considerably reduced travel time to these resorts. Don’t forget to discover Arlberg’s small gems, Sonnenkopf, Warth and Schrocken to avoid the crowds.

4. Apres at Mooserwirt and KK's

They are so many fantastic après bars in St Anton, but the most famous are Mooserwirt and Krazy Kangaruh. These are where you head at 3pm for the craziest beer-fuelled fun you’ve ever had in the snow! Find out more about our favourite apres bars.

5. Get a guide and go off piste

St Anton boasts 200km of off piste routes over 55km sq of terrain. This is extremely attractive to advanced skiers and lovers of off piste and powder skiing. The resort has a consistent snow record with some of the best snowfall in the Alps, making it the perfect ski destination for off piste adventures. Make the most of your day by getting a guide that can safely escort you to the best untracked spots on the mountain. You will be amazed by the endless amounts of possibilities!

6. Lunch at Hospiz Alm

After a long morning on the slopes aim for St Christoph at lunch and stop at the ski-in ski-out Hospiz Alm restaurant on the outskirts of the village. The restaurant serves a variety of Austrian delicacies including Wiener Schnitzel, Tiroler Gröstl and Käsespätzle as well as simple favourites like baked potatoes, salad and soup. Before you leave, there’s no need to struggle down the stairs in ski boots – ride the slide down to the toilets!

7. Ski the ‘Run of Fame’

Since the opening of the Flexenbahn in 2016/17, a new circuit has been created linking 7 resorts in the Arlberg ski area. The 85km long route takes in the entire dimension of the fully connected skiing area.

8. Dance in to the early hours

If you made it through après at Mooserwirt and looking to carry on the party then you have plenty of choices for nightlife once the mountain bars have closed. Our favourites include Bar Cuba, Bobo’s, Piccadilly Bar & Post Kellar, and Horny Bull.

9. Refuel at Burger Stop

If you got too carried away at après and missed dinnertime back at the chalet, or if you are craving a late night snack on your way back after the sesh, Burger Stop is here to save the day. Located in the middle of town, Burger Stop is open until very late providing cheap and decent fast food.

10. Experience St Anton off the slopes

Away from the mountains and vibrant après scene, St Anton is a picturesque traditional village filled with boutiques, cafes, restaurants and sports centres. Whether you want to take a day off from the slopes or have a non-skier in your group, there is plenty in St Anton to keep you entertained. Other activities in resort include bowling, swimming, paragliding, climbing, tennis, tobogganing, horse sleigh rides, hiking, ice skating and wellness.
