ITINERARY: 4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS

Day 1 - Welcome

The coach transfer from the airport is only a short, comfortable 25-minute journey up to the Star Arctic on the Saariselkä fell.

On arrival in Saariselkä you will have afternoon tea, and then the elves will get you fitted with your special complimentary thermal over-suits and boots. You may not look fashionable but you will certainly keep warm.

Once you have arrived at your hotel, the fun really begins now! As you have the chance to explore and get your bearings in Saariselkä’s winter wonderland. Tobogganing and making snowmen are always firm favourites. 

In the evening, you’ll venture out for a wilderness dinner in a traditional Lappish kota – a cosy wooden hut similar to a teepee. This is where you will hopefully get your first glimpse of the magical Northern Lights as the kota is located in a remote wooded area. After your meal, gather around the crackling fire to toast marshmallows and soak up the magical atmosphere, learning more about Sami myths.

Day 2 - Adventure Day

This day gives you the chance to start building up the excitement, with your choice of fantastic optional adventures.

Try a sensational daytime Snowmobile Safari, where parents take it in turns to drive the snowmobile and children will be towed in a special sled by the guide, or the evening snowmobile option, with a popular Northern Lights Adventure. Or perhaps enjoy a few hours downhill skiing, or Saariselkä’s toboggan run – the longest in Finland at 1.2 km. Animal lovers may prefer to go for an extra, longer Husky Sled Ride or Reindeer Sleigh Ride – always a popular option with the children.

When you return back to the Star Arctic you’ll enjoy a tasty buffet dinner with views over the snowy fells – with a bit of Christmas magic, you may even spot the Northern Lights.

Day 3 - Search for Santa

Your magical Christmas adventure begins as you're taken deep into the snow-covered forest, where you'll enjoy an unforgettable day of festive activities – all included in your trip. Meet Santa in his secret woodland cabin, take a thrilling ride on a husky-drawn sled, and step inside the enchanting Elves' Workshop. Wrap up warm, have your camera ready, and get set for a day filled with Christmas magic.

You’ll meet the beautiful huskies at The Husky Farm where the children snuggle in a sled with a parent, and grown-ups can all take a turn at actually ‘driving’ your own team of huskies, cheered on by the children! The excitement of being in charge of five or six eager huskies, all raring to run and straining at the leash is simply exhilarating. The whisper of sled on snow as you race through Lapland’s winter wonderland is the most perfect way to experience my homeland.

Warm up for an afternoon of fun in the snow with a tasty two course lunch served at the wilderness restaurant. The search continues in the afternoon where you can visit the Elves Workshop or have a go at some snow and ice activities. You’ll take a wonderful sleigh ride through magical snowy woodland, making your way to a secret location where each family will enjoy a private visit with Santa himself.

Refreshments are included too, and are available throughout the day, for those times when a few minutes warming up round a crackling log fire is welcomed.

Finally, back ‘home’ in your hotel, you’ll finish the day with a delicious dinner while you re-live every unforgettable moment of your biggest ever Christmas adventure!

Day 4 - The grand finale

Before your journey home, enjoy an exciting snowmobile ride over the fells– a highlight included in your Aurora package. Children will travel safely in a sleigh pulled by the guide’s snowmobile at the front of the group, while adults can choose to drive, ride pillion, or relax in a sleigh. Just remember to bring your driving licence if you plan to take the controls!
