Kitzbuhel latest resort to open early

Kitzbuhel latest resort to open early Kitzbuhel ski holidays are to receive a historic boost from strong snowfall as the resort opens a number of runs six weeks early, it has emerged.

The move marks the earliest in the season the resort has ever opened to skiers and snowboarders, with 2007 set to go down in history as a particularly memorable year for ski holidays in Kitzbuhel, reports the Ski Club of Great Britain.

More than 80 cm of fresh snow had fallen in the Austrian ski centre on Friday, with Saturday all set to see the Panoramabahn Kitzbueheler Alpen and the Resterkogel chairlifts back in actions for a winter to remember.

The news is the latest in a series of snow coups for Austria, with the Telegraph reporting recently that a number of the country's slopes were ready for sporting fun more than six weeks ahead of schedule.

Ski Club of Great Britain's Betony Garner told the news provider: "Austria has had the most snow in the past few weeks."
