Aspen opens early

Aspen opens early Aspen Mountain has opened for the ski season, five days before schedule, meaning ski holidays in North America can begin in earnest.

A late storm in the region dropped 16 inches of snow, creating perfect conditions for a ski holiday in North America.

Crews in the region have been working around the clock to ensure that the snow that falls is preserved, and they have clearly been doing their job as the mountain was opened on November 18th.

"It would be criminal not to open this mountain," said Peter King, Mountain Manager at Aspen Mountain.

"Our crews have been working hard to get the mountain ready to go and we are all excited to get the community up on the hill early."

Everything is in order for ski holidays in North America, with over 150 acres of terrain in use on Aspen Mountain.

The region is set for a busy season, with the World Cup visiting from November 25th, and a number of other events making 2006 to 2007 a great time to take a ski holiday in North America.
