Bode Miller achieves World Cup goal

Bode Miller achieves World Cup goal American skier Bode Miller has won the overall title in the skiing World Cup at the weekend.

Miller was awarded the crystal globe title in an awards ceremony that took place in Bormio, Italy this Sunday (March 16th 2008) much to the delight of those enjoying European ski holidays in the vicinity.

Famed for his somewhat unorthodox skiing style and sometimes tumultuous private life, Miller has entertained the crowds at the ski World Cup over the past weeks, ultimately running away with the title with a final score of 1409 points.

The US skier was joined on the podium by fellow American Lindsey Vonn, who also won the overall title at the weekend.

Miller was followed in the title race by Austria's Benjamin Raich on 1298 points and Swiss skier Didier Cuche on 1263.

"It's cool to see that two Americans can take the two overall titles away from the Europeans," Miller commented, following the momentous win.

However, according to reports, the indomitable skier's future plans are as yet uncertain.
