BRITS snowsports festival celebrates 20th birthday

BRITS snowsports festival celebrates 20th birthday Preparations are underway in Switzerland ahead of the 20th annual BRITS snowsports festival, which takes place in March.

Described by its organisers as an "unmissable winter week", BRITS 2009 will be held in the resort of Laax and will see some of the world's best snowboarders and skiers battle it out for a British title, gold medal and TTR World Ranking points.

Speaking last week, Soul Sports chief Stu Brass said the resort has undergone significant development in the past year and was enjoying "epic" early season snow conditions.

"Laax has undergone a brand new development in resort, the Rocksresort, which has already been given a design award and will give the resort and the BRITS an ultra modern twist, including new shops, restaurants and accommodation options," he commented.

Mr Brass described ski conditions as "amazing" and said that a 40-inch base layer had already been established, which should guarantee a long season.

As well as snowboarding, the BRITS is also a celebration of music and visitors can expect a talented line-up of musicians to be on hand with the entertainment.
