Megève classic car competition excites crowds
Big brands were spotted among the retro cars, with Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Mini and Alfa Romeo among the 50 vehicles shown off by their owners.
The competition took place over the weekend of 17th-19th January, with 3 prizes being handed out. The “Most Beautiful Modern Car” award was given to a Bugatti Chiron, while the “Most Beautiful Vintage Car” was handed to a 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona. The coveted “Best of the Show” award was given to a 1955 Pegaso.
It’s always a friendly atmosphere with music, food and drink and a sort of driveway catwalk where each owner slowly moves up and down to the delight of the onlooking crowd.
Megève is part of the Evasion Mont-Blanc ski area and has quick access to resorts like Chamonix and Les Houches. It’s also where an episode of hit Netflix series Emily in Paris was filmed.

Maisie Adam headlines Les Gets Comedy Festival

Kitzbühel Snow Polo World Cup draws in crowds once again
With 12 games overall and 16 teams taking part, onlookers (who can watch for free) get to see over 200 beautiful horses put to work in front of a spectacular backdrop. The annual event - now in its 22nd year - also puts on entertainment and top-class cuisine off the field.
If you have no idea, then think of Polo as similar to hockey but with riders on horses trying to hit the ball into the opponent’s goal with a long wooden stick.
The organisers also put on a free shuttle bus for people staying in Kitzbühel town centre to get to and from the matches. Next year’s tournament takes place on 15th-18th January 2026.
Kitzbühel, in Austria, is highly regarded for its skiing and has 233km of ski runs, served by an excellent ski lift infrastructure.
