The famous après ski bar and restaurant chain, La Folie Douce, has announced that it is embarking on the hotel industry with its first property in Chamonix.
La Folie Douce currently has 5 bars across the French Alpes - Val d’Isere-Tignes, Val Thorens, Meribel-Courchevel, St Gervais-Megeve and Alpe d’Huez which host daily parties throughout the ski season to hundreds of skiers and snowboarders.
Planned for a December 2018 opening, La Folie Douce will take over the former Club Med Chamonix. Featuring 250 rooms in total and 2 different types of accommodations: 3 star ‘access’ rooms with 2, 4 or 6 beds aimed at friends and families, and 4 star ‘premium’ space with luxury services ranging from double to large lofts. Of the 18 million euros invested, 15 will be spent on the total renovation of the building. The hotel aims to cater for groups, partygoers and families alike.
The hotel is ski-in ski-out via a green slope and there is a draglift nearby that provides access to the main Plan Praz and on to the Brévent and Flégère ski areas. There are plans for several restaurants which will offer anything from a small snack to a 3-course meal throughout the day:
