Nearly Half Term Snow Forecast

Nearly Half Term Snow Forecast

It's nearly half term, with some schools breaking up this weekend and many, many more the week after. So you'll be glad to hear there is bucket loads of snow. But, where is getting the best snow you ask?

In the Six Nations, Italy may have beaten France, but the French are ruling the snow stakes right now, with the non-rugby playing Austrians not too far behind. There is over half a metre of snow falling before the weekend in some resorts, setting up the Alps for perfect half term skiing.

France, as per usual, is boasting the best snow this week. Several of the smaller resorts are getting some snow, but the Portes du Soleil is expecting a good half metre of pow, if not more. The Three Valleys, Paradiski and many other renowned ski areas are set for cracking conditions too.

  • Alpe d'Huez 31cm
  • Avoriaz 42cm
  • Courchevel 24cm
  • Flaine 48cm
  • La Rosiere 30cm
  • Les Arcs 21cm
  • Les Gets 53cm
  • Les Deux Alpes 30cm
  • Meribel 21cm
  • Morzine 47cm

Austria is finally catching up with France and Switzerland for snow. There has been regular snowfall, but the numbers are now getting serious, with the Arlberg set for some serious powder this week — the Valluga will be epic! When the lake by Zell am See is this snowy, you know you're in for a good week!

  • Hinterglemm 30cm
  • Ischgl 32cm
  • Kaprun 21cm
  • Kitzbuhel 30cm
  • Lech 47cm
  • Mayrhofen 28cm
  • Obergurgl 19cm
  • Schladming 38cm
  • Solden 23cm
  • St. Anton 38cm

Switzerland is having an awesome season with whopping amounts of snow falling on a regular basis. You know things are good when Zermatt has good snow, but not the best. This weekend it's all about the Jungfrau, with Wengen and Grindelwald set for over 40cm of pure, Swiss pow.

  • Crans Montana 27cm
  • Flims Laax 28cm
  • Grindelwald 43cm
  • Klosters 22cm
  • Les Diablerets 29cm
  • Saas Fee 19cm
  • St. Moritz 12cm
  • Verbier 25cm
  • Villars 36cm
  • Wengen 42cm
  • Zermatt 14cm

Italy has also been enjoying a great season. Though the snow is a little more modest this week, double figures are forecast in most resorts, making for a great dusting of fresh snow in time for half term.

  • Arabba 8cm
  • Cervinia 16cm
  • Kronplatz 16cm
  • La Thuile 30cm
  • Sauze d'Oulx 12cm

Conditions this season just get better and better and with the school holidays kicking in over the next couple of weeks, all this extra snow will more than make up for the busy slopes and lift queues during your week in the mountains.
