Skiing comes once more to Aspen

Skiing comes once more to Aspen Following an impressive season of snowfall in Aspen this winter, the mountain is being reopened this weekend to allow skiers and boarders another chance to take to the slopes between June 13th and 15th 2008.

Although it is the beginning of the season for what is the traditional summer operating season, there is still an average depth of above three feet on the upper slopes of Aspen Mountain.

Those who wish to enjoy some skiing in North America post-season can enjoy 45 acres of intermediate-standard terrain boasting seven runs, mountain officials say.

Skiers and snowboarders can access the mountain via the Silver Queen Gondola and the Ajax Express chairlift.

"There are some people who are excited about it, especially those who didn't get to ski this winter. Some of my buddies were away at college, so they'll get a chance to ski here," Matt Butler at Pomeroy Sports in Aspen told the Daily Sentinel.

The publication also reports that roughly 5,000 food and wine fans are expected to arrive in Aspen at the weekend for the 26th annual Food and Wine Magazine Classic.
