Snow Filled Fun For Half Term

Snow Filled Fun For Half Term

Half Term has started and we must be in Mother Nature's good books as it has either snowed or is snowing throughout the Alps and North America. Over the weekend the resorts of Val d'Isere, Meribel and Les Arcs all enjoyed fresh snow and there is more to come.

Austria is boasting great snow this week, with most resorts expecting over 20cm in the next 5 days. The family friendly resorts of Seefeld, Obergurgl and Solden all boast nearly 25cm while the world class skiing and party towns of Lech, St. Anton and Ischgl will all be pleased to see 20cm hitting the slopes between now and Friday.

Half Term Snow

Italy is having a great February with the Dolomites and Milky Way all enjoying great snow and this week looks no different. Selva, Kronplatz and Arabba are all boasting 15-18cm of powder, with most resorts receiving up to 4cm today alone.

The Graubünden region of Switzerland is looking pretty good this morning with Davos, Klosters and Flims-Laax all boasting double figures. St. Moritz, Crans Montana and Verbier will also be getting a dusting to top up the perfectly groomed pistes.

Half Term Snow

The web cams this morning are telling a more positive story of France than the forecast and after a weekend of snow throughout France conditions are looking good from the Tarantaise to the Haute Savoie. Val d'Isere's locals woke to 7cm of fresh snow on the slopes this morning, with more expected throughout the day, with light snowfall expected all over the region. Avoriaz, Morzine and Chamonix are all expecting ~5cm this week and the 9 day forecast has 12cm predicted in Meribel on Saturday.

The Spanish speaking resorts are also looking good this week with Formigal boasting 20cm and Andorra's big three resorts of Arinsal, Soldeu el Tarter and Pas de la Casa due 17cm, 16cm and 13cm respectively.

Half Term Snow

If you're hopping across the pond to North America then you can look forward to 30cm in Tahoe's resorts of Squaw Valley, Northstar and Heavenly, with Colorado also boasting 28cm in Steamboat and 25cm in Aspen. Utah's famous dry powder will be gracing Park City and Deer Valley with 19cm this week too. Heading north of the border and Canada is forecast double figures in most resorts. Whistler gets another 24cm, Fernie 14cm and Big White 12cm.

Half Term is looking like a great week to get onto the slopes, there is plenty of snow, some blue skies and sub zero temperatures to keep the mountain in great shape. It's just a shame the snowman has to wait until next week for a re-freeze.
