Snow report | 12 Oct 2016

Snow report | 12 Oct 2016 It’s snowing in the Alps! Over 50cm of snow has fallen in the highest regions of the Alps since the weekend with even more on the way. Snow is falling down to resort level in some parts of the Alps as temperatures drop.

We saw the first snowflakes of the season last month as high areas received a sprinkling of snowfall, now, with less than 2 months until the first skiers and snowboarders hit the slopes the first large snowfalls down to resort levels have hit areas of France, Austria, Italy and Switzerland.

It’s not just Europe with the snowfall; North America has already seen excellent snowfalls for this time of year and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Canada already has 30cm of snow covering the slopes.

The glacier resorts in Austria recieved the best of the snow on Thursday 13th October with Hintertux getting 50cm of snowfall, Stubai 60cm, Kaprun 80cm and Solden with a huge 92cm of freshies!
