Snow Report | 29 Nov 2017

Snow hit the Alps last night as 3 day snowstorm started sweeping across ski resorts in Europe – predominately France, Austria and Switzerland. There has already been a fantastic start to the season with regular large dumps of snow throughout November which has led to some resorts opening early.

Yesterday Avoriaz announced that it is opening its ski area 2 weeks early and will crank up the lifts from this Saturday. Skiers and snowboarders are already enjoying the slopes in Val Thorens, Tignes, Saas Fee, Verbier, Obergurgl, Sölden, Cervinia, Zermatt and more! Read more about 2017/18 ski resort opening dates.

The next 9 days are going to be extremely interesting in the Alps with heavy snow forecast and temperatures dropping to way below freezing (-18 degrees in some parts of France). These are brilliant snow conditions for so early in the season and allows resorts to build up a decent snow base for when ski season properly kicks off for Christmas and New Year. We head out to Tignes on Sunday and can’t wait to report back to you live from resort.
