Snowsport England’s '30 Days of Snowsport’ continues to attract big numbers across the country

Snowsport England’s '30 Days of Snowsport’ continues to attract big numbers across the country 30 Days of Snowsport is Snowsport England’s latest campaign to raise national awareness about the opportunities available in skiing and snowboarding in the UK and to drive participation to local facilities and clubs, as well as getting people excited about the sports.

Just a few weeks ago Snowsport England launched Go Race Go Freestyle at The Snow Centre in Hemel Hampstead. Read more on the event here.

The initiative is getting close to the halfway mark and the events across the country have already attracted some big numbers with many visitors trying skiing and snowboarding for the first time.

On Sunday 5th October, around 250 people attended the Open Day at Pendle Ski Club in Lancashire, with 134 people taking advantage of the TRY ski or snowboard sessions.

Mark Feneley, Pendle Ski Club Chairman said of the event: “We have had a fantastic day; it was great to see so many new faces here at the club. It was a privilege to give people an opportunity to ski or snowboard for the first time in beautiful surroundings and we look forward to welcoming them back throughout the season."

On Saturday 4th October, Snozone in Milton Keynes hosted an Oktoberfest with four-time Olympian and Go Ski Go Board ambassador Chemmy Alcott making a guest appearance. Chemmy gave out tips to young skiers on the slopes before putting on a show for the visitors as she skied in her dirndl.

30 Days of Snowsport continues this week with the launch of NUCO in both the North (at Snozone Castleford) and the South (at The Snow Centre, Hemel) on Wednesday 8th and a new university freestyle programme, the Freeski Demolition with Team GB half pipe skier Pete Speight at Snozone Castleford on Friday 10th.

These programmes are extremely exciting for wintersports in the UK and give opportunities to people that are new to skiing and snowboarding, with further chances to progress in the sports.
