Spring Snow Arrives in Style

Spring Snow Arrives in Style

Usually at this time of season the slopes are thinning out and people are heading as high as possible, making for busy glaciers. This spring is looking to be a lot more fun then usual, though soft afternoon snow is still a likelihood.

Over the next five days up to half a metre is expected in some European resorts, with a decent amount of snowfall in many others. Spring powder, sunshine and longer days are looking pretty appealing again right now.

Switzerland is boasting fantastic snowfall this week in their high resorts. Saas Fee and Zermatt are again forecast 50cm+ of snow with Crans Montana and Verbier looking forward to around 25cm of fresh snowfall.

Italy is following on with upwards of 40cm in Cervinia and Gressoney, with the Milky Way also getting a much needed 13cm or so in Sauze d'Oulx and Sestriere.

Austria is often a mixed back at this time of year with glaciers boasting good conditions and low resorts winding down for the season. This week Solden will benefit from another 30cm of snow, with Obergurgl not far behind with a decent 28cm and Ischgl gaining 18cm.

France is less exciting this week but will still be happy to see the near 20cm falling in the popular resorts. Les Deux Alpes is looking at 19cm of snowfall, with Val d'Isere, Val Thorens and Alpe d'Huez benefitting from a welcome 15cm or so of snow.

Heading across the pond to North America and conditions are similar, if not slightly better. Kicking Horse and Whistler are showing off with another 50cm+ of snowfall in Canada and Steamboat and Jackson Hole in the US are forecast upwards of 25cm of late winter powder.

The season's end may be approaching but there is still plenty of snow out there to be enjoyed.
