Verbier 'extends opening'

Verbier 'extends opening' Last week Verbier opened its slopes for weekend skiing, however, those hoping to take longer ski holidays in Verbier will be thrilled to know that the resort intends to open a number of its runs for week-long periods from this weekend.

According to the Ski Club of Great Britain, week-long opening has been brought forward from the scheduled date of December 1st after snow fell earlier this month covering many of the pistes.

The areas of Lac des Vaux, Attelas and La Chaux are now open for skiing along with the ski lifts of Chable Gondola, Medran 2, Funispace, Lac des Vaux 1 and Chaux Express.

The Ski Club notes that 60 cm of snow fell on Verbier's upper slopes this week while those looking to enjoy ski holidays in Zermatt will be happy to know that this resort is also now open.

Non-skiers can enjoy a variety of other activities at Verbier including heliskiing, paragliding, ice climbing, snowshoeing and tobogganing.
