Solden’s new Giggijoch Gondola

This state of the art new gondola will transport up to 4500 skiers per hour – the highest capacity of any lift in the world! The gondola starts at 1362m to Solden’s top station at Giggijoch at 2283m is just 9 minutes.

The base station is designed by Obermoser, the same architectural company that built the stunning Gaislachkogl Mountain Gondola and the spectacular ice Q Gourmet Restaurant at Gaislachkogl peak that featured in the James Bond blockbuster Spectre.

The top terminal houses a sports shop and a ski storage area so skiers can hop on the gondola and pick up their skis and heated boots from the lockers at the top of the mountain.

The new 3S cable car will dramatically increase access to the Stubai glacier. The new cable bar route will also create a new piste Fernau, a 3.8km long run to the valley.

This technologically advanced gondola will be the longest of its type to be built in the Alps. The 4b cabin will transport up to 3000 skiers per hour, doubling the previous 1500 and reducing wait times substantially. The journey will take just 11 minutes and all the cabins will have free Wi-Fi.

The Stubai Glacier cable car lift is miles ahead in terms of sustainability with the total amount of energy required to operate the facilities generated from renewable energy sources.
