The chalet offers a great location in Le Lac, with easy access to the slopes - a short uphill walk & an easy ski down to your choice of two lifts. It is also a short walk into town & all the amenities. The lounge/dining space is large & more than enough space for our group of 12. The food was great & staff very friendly.

Really enjoyed skiing in Tignes, the runs are varied and there is something for most abilities (although best for intermediate skiers). It's easy to access the slopes in Val D'Isere too so the total ski area is vast. We stayed in Tignes Le Lac and the village is at a high altitude and quite compact - all accommodation is about a five minute walk from the centre of town, and all amenities are conveniently close. In town there is a regular weekly farmers' market and the bars are friendly and welcoming. The chalet Aigle Royal is a great place to stay it's close to the slopes and has a friendly atmosphere. The staff look after all of their guests in a relaxed way and the rooms are of a high standard.

Skiing fit for Royals - 09/04/2011
Overall

We made a late booking for the Chalet Aigle Royal in January 2011. After a delayed flight and a slow exit from Grenoble Airport, we arrived at the Aigle Royal tired and grumpy, but were soon cheered by the warmth of our welcome at the Chalet Royal. The first meal of the week set the standard. Delicous, professionally prepared four course meals emerged from the kitchen with smooth and speedy service. With pre-dinner aperitifs and canapes, and a choice of two red and two white wines every night, we realised that this was definitely a cut above most of the chalets we had stayed in before. Our chef and two chalet hosts were attentive and friendly throughout the week, as was the rep who called every evening to make sure that we were happy and that all our needs were met. Our en suite room, though advertised as having a "sloping ceiling" was vast and comfortable. The chalet had direct access to the pistes, invloving a short climb up a slope, with the return at the end of the day being equally easy. What's more, after a full day's skiing, followed by tea and cake, we could wallow in the hot tub outside, admiring the night sky as we sipped the first beer of the evening. With the added bonuses of a sauna, steam room and heated boot racks, this chalet deserves its regal name. We'll be back next year.

We stayed at the Chalet Aigle Royal in December 2009. This was our first chalet holiday and certainly won't be our last as the whole experience was fantastic. The accommodation was of an excellent standard and very well maintained with good access to the slopes (50m walk and the ability to ski back to the front door). The chalet's spa facilities were spotless and a great place to relax after a long day on the slopes. The staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable and the catering was also to a very high standard. The highlight of the week (aside from the skiing) was the resort rep who seemed to know everyone in the resort and seemingly could sort out anything for you. I have already recommended Iglu Ski to friends and family and hope to use them again in future.
