Les Grangettes - 09/04/2011
Overall

I have just come back from an excellent holiday in Les Grangettes Meribel. Booking the holiday with iglu was very quick and simple. The accommodation couldn't have been in a better location, 2 mins walk to the ski lift and very good location in town. The accommodation itself was very basic in the rooms however you spend such little time in the rooms it doesn't matter. The food was amazing! Breakfast had an excellent buffet selection and a hot option. Get back at 4pm after a hard days skiing and you can have soup and cake and then at 7pm you have canopies followed by a 3 course meal with unlimited wine. We were sceptical of the free wine but it was great and it was definitely unlimited!! Coming in bottles not out of plastic containers! The evening meal was brilliant from duck to legs of lamb it was all excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and better than most waiters you would find in restaurants. Overall an excellent stay and would definitely book again.

It’s attached to a very popular apres ski bar called Meribar, which has excellent entertainment after a good days skiing. You get approx 2euros discount on every drink at the bar, which adds up to great saving over a week. The rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable. The food was amazing and plenty of it and plenty of wine to wash it down. The chalet workers workers were extremely helpful in every way. The hotel/chalet is located approx 30 metres from the slope and 100 metres from Rhodos gondola. So location is fantastic, and meribel is perfectly located if you want to explore the three valleys. Booking was easy from the start, I was dealing with someone called Alice who was very patient and helpful. Transfer to and from resort was easy too.

Amazing Service - 21/02/2022

I phoned about two weeks before half term to try and book a ski holiday to Austria…and ended up booking Meribel after being so carefully guided by the travel consultant. There was little availability in the large Austrian resorts to suit my budget, so he looked at other options for me. He suggested Meribel and was able to use his own knowledge of working there in the past to sell me the holiday in an honest way. He really grasped what we needed (not far from the lifts as we had children), and gave me the confidence to book - without doing further research. I trusted him and I am so glad I did. The hotel location was fantastic. Whilst on face value the hotel appeared basic and in need of a facelift, it was very clean and comfortable. The food was great, the wine better (and the Prosecco and canapés were a bonus each evening). The staff were so kind and helpful and did not stress when the children (who all made friends) ran riot in the hotel whilst the parents ate dinner! Separate rooms for boots and skis were a great idea as it stopped boot rooms from being clogged up in the mornings. Skiing in the 3 Valleys offered so much choice and variety - a new favourite place to ski! Brilliant service from Iglu - thank you.

Great location and great staff. - 02/03/2020

This hotel is extremely well located right across the road from the main lifts/meeting area in Meribel - only a few minutes walk. The hotel has a handy ski and boot store (with warmers) so you don't need to take anything back to your room. The rooms are small and a bit basic but they are very clean and the bathroom/shower is pretty good. The bed was comfy too. The staff here are excellent and more than make up for the fact that the hotel/décor is a little tired. The food was really good, tasty, hearty with a new choice each evening. Breakfasts also good and the tea/coffee and cakes/biscuits/soup/snacks available in the afternoon were great. The wine with dinner was also of good quality. Jacks bar (attached to the hotel) seems to be the main apres-ski location at the end of the day with live bands, but we never had a problem with noise into the night as music shuts down by 8pm. All in all we had a great stay - good value for money in the heart of Meribel.

Easter Skiing - 18/04/2011
Overall

Just back from a fantastic weeks skiing in Meribel. We stayed in Les Grangettes and were well looked after. A solid breakfast with a cooked option, (which was a little poor), soup, tea and cakes at 4.30pm and a lovely 3 course meal in the evening with a cheese board if desired. The food on the whole was very good. The free wine, although not the best quality was welcome with dinner. I was there with my mate (both in our 30's) and although most of the residents were families we enjoyed ourselves both on and off the slopes. Due to the time of year there was no snow in the village but there was plenty on top of the mountain. We bought a 3 Valleys pass and rarely skied the same slope twice. The early mornings were a little icy at times and afternoons were slushy on the way down but there was still lots of great skiing to be had, especially in and on the way to and from Val Thoren. Although the evenings were quieter than I would have liked I would definitely return to this hotel and resort at Easter.
