Selva, January 2011 - 09/04/2011
Overall

Plentiful skiing but limited snowboarding this year due to a lack of fresh snow. No serious queues but seriously cold at altitude. In general, great for intermediates and anyone who can manage some fairly steep and frightening reds at the start of the day. Confidence is key! Plenty of open spaces on the nursery slopes and button lifts to loosen you up on day one. Chalet Soldanella, well placed and only 100m from the piste from Nnrsery slopes en route back to centre of the village. Soldenalla was a fun and large chalet. We were a party of 15 with 8 other guests. Staff were lively and relaxed. Selva high street has a range of bars and restaurants. Overall, plenty of skiing, especially if you get away from the Ronda runs. Scenery and photographic opportunities great if it's not too cold to get tour camera out. Fun park, great fun and once you sort out the geography everything links up around the valley. Transfer from Innsbruck is about an hour and a half with lunchtime flight from LGW and late afternoon flight back in 2011.

Review of Selva ski holiday, 13th-20th February - 16/04/2011
Overall

As a group of 26 we had the luxury of taking over the whole of Chalet Soldanella. First impressions were good, the chalet had obviously undergone recent refurbishment and the bedrooms, lounge and dining room were spotless. The meals were all up to an excellent standard and the cakes and tea in the afternoon were very much appreciated after a hard day's skiing. So, all in all, top marks for the chalet and staff. As for the resort itself, Selva and the surrounding Sella Ronda ski area was seriously impressive. I've been on plenty of ski holidays and I think the scenery and views are the most impressive I've seen. Plenty of mixed runs to attack and no chance of getting bored. In summary, great chalet and resort with a group of fantastic friends.

On arriving at the resort the chalet staff welcomed us and took our bags to our bedrooms while we were entertered to a drink in the down stairs dining room. What a fantastic start! The bedrooms were generally a good size all with private faciliates, some a lot larger than others. There was an upstairs lounge where after a hard days ski-ing we were provided with cakes and tea and coffee. Chilling out time then more food around 7pm with aperitifs which varied most days. Thirty minutes later we were beconned downstairs to the lounge for a lovely 3 course meal, typicallu of soup, main course and dessert. Ample food and good quality together with an excellent choice of two reds and two whites. The chalet itself is a 3 minute walk to the slopes for the short run down which takes you to either the main gondella or chair list about 500m away. The centre of town is only a 10 minute walk with local bars and all the night life. Sadly the chalet does not provide any facilities but taking into account the location, accomondation, food and service it is well worth visiting again.

Review of 7 night holiday at Selva - 11/04/2011
Overall

Selva is an amszing resort with many runs — I have not skied so much for ages. The beauty of the Dolomites against blue sky — unbeatable. Soldenella well situated for lifts, food was excellent, rooms modern and bright. Chalet housekeeper and Chef were dreadful, made up for by two chalet hosts and Olly the Rep. Ski hire very easy and v helpful staff.

Great location for massive ski touring - 28/02/2022
Overall

Selva was a revelation. There is a huge amount of skiing (mostly on-piste and red runs) but very scenic. You'd need at least two weeks to do it justice. Not great if you've got some in ski school and some competent skiers as the link between the two areas are not great so breaks up the day. Otherwise thoroughly recommended. We stayed in Chalet Soldanella which was a good mid-priced option. Very friendly and good access to the lifts (5 mins). Iglu Ski was very helpful throughout.
