I had never been to Avoriaz or the impressive Portes du Soleil ski area and my expectations were not left wanting. The skiing is vast and varied. I found many challenging red and black runs and the off-piste skiing is up there with the best in Europe — tree line skiing anyone? Avoriaz is also home to the world-famous Stash snow park! For those that like to take a more leisurely pace, you can glide from valley to valley with relative ease using the quick and extensive lift system that spans from Les Gets, France to Champery, Switzerland. If you fancy a substantial meal or light refreshment en route, there are an unbelievable amount of quaint mountain restaurants & bars dotted around the place and the prices are reasonable. Avoriaz is smack in the middle of all the action so I have no qualms about recommending the resort. The nightlife gets better towards the weekend but you do have the neighboring resort of Morzine you could visit for more testing apres skiing. Morzine is lower in altitude so your best bet is to stay high and central so you can get to wherever you want at a breeze. Avoriaz is the place to be.

I had forgotten just how good the Portes du Soleil area is! What an amazing ski area, with such a variety of terrain and spectacular scenery! Club Med is ideally located at the top end of town and easy to ski in and ski out off! All the staff were great and made us feel really welcome. Food was fantastic as always, loved the raclette and fondue but now need to go on a diet! Making our own mojitos on the sun terrace was a great way to round of a hard day on the hill! For a great lunch spot, head to 'Les Fermes des Pistes' on the Linga run and you will be welcomed royally by Rocky the dog, especially if you order cheese!

Treat yourself to the Club Med experience in Avoriaz - 20/04/2015

If your looking for a ski holiday that will suit all abilities visit Club Med Avoriaz. The property will be closing by 2018 so make the most of it while you can. One of the few resorts you can have a transfer by horse & carriage. Club Med Avoriaz is in a great location perched on the side of the mountain offering great views as far as the Swiss boarder. The standard Club rooms rooms all have showers. The suites there are only two are located on the top floor they are much larger and have a bath and a separate shower offering great views. There are also deluxe rooms where you can request a bath or shower plus inter-connecting club rooms if looking to book for a family. Those on a tight budget you can stay in couple rooms which are 13m2 which would also be also suitable for singles for sole use. Club Med Avoriaz has a great sun terrace to unwind at the end of the day where Club Med provide drinks & snacks. The bar & theatre are next door to each other & the restaurant is at the basement of the hotel. The boot room is on the ground floor of the rear exit to the hotel where you can lock your skis at night & offers direct access to the slopes. The ski lesson meeting point is a minute ski away. It is an easy walk into town via a public passage from the front exit of Club Med. Where you can visit Aquariaz the tropical pool in resort I went there twice after skiing great fun. There is also a ten pin bowling alley if the weather is bad which has pool tables air hockey, table football as well as pinball machines to try. There is great skiing to be had in Portes Du Soleil a great start up run is the Mossette blue to the Abricotine blue when you reach the top you are in Switzerland. The Abricotine is nice long run and offers stunning views of Switzerland & France as it winds its way down the mountain. Those of you who like a test the Blacks from the top of the Grand Coombes one of which is a long steep mogul field will give your knees a good workout, there are plenty of off piste opportunities in resort as well. Avoriaz offers one of the shorter transfers time from Geneva to a major French resort . If it is not on your ski places to visit it should be.

Our holiday at club Med Avoriaz was a great week's skiing with excellent staff who looked after both us and our children extremely well. The food was excellent and whilst the hotel does look a bit tired in places the service and overall atmosphere was very good.

Another good week in Avoriaz - 27/01/2015
Overall

My party of 18 mixed sex and ages have just returned from another fantastic week at Club Med in Avoriaz. This is the 2nd time we have used Club Med and it is without a doubt the best package around being all inclusive, ( apart from ski equipment). I have visited this resort many times and tried all types of accommodation but this is without a doubt the best. The staff are very friendly and always pleased to help. Down side is Club Med office staff are not the best company to deal with be patient the effort is well worth it. Also some of the French guests could do with a lesson in manners but this seems to be the norm whether you are French or English.
