Lovely Hotel, Lovely Skiing - 23/02/2015
Overall

We were a group of adults aged from 20 to 64, skiing ability from moderate to advanced and all had a great holiday. We stayed at Hotel Bel'Alpe and I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. The staff were attentive and helpful, but not intrusive, check in and out was simple and quick, food was excellent and plentiful - 4 courses every night, with an option of ordering a fondue in advance. The rooms were spacious with plenty of storage, and a number are family rooms which are very well planned out. There is no lift so anyone who struggles with stairs may have a problem, but it did not cause any issues for us. The bar is comfy and well stocked, and had designated areas so groups could be together without overwhelming other guests. A great hotel, especially for the price. Close to Pleney Gondola Lift (5-6 minute walk) and the centre of town. The skiing was also great - we had blue skies every day, though the snow did get a little slushy in the afternoons - we were very lucky. We didn't really indulge in any après ski away from the hotel.

Morzine - one week from 24 Jan 2015 - 03/02/2015
Overall

Excellent hotel - room size, food, staff, and location! Had to turn the rads down/off in the room because it was tropical on arrival - but an abundance of hot water, bath with shower, separate WC (useful!). Dining and lounge areas were comfortable and of a good size. Good choice for breakfast (including bacon and scrambled egg). Fixed menu for dinner was very good - plentiful and well cooked (seconds were often available!). The house red was very acceptable, also tried Cote du Rhone (I preferred the 2010). Location couldn't have been much better being equidistant from the Pleny and Super Morzine lifts. The skiing was excellent (made all the better by heavy snow falls for much of the week). Some sun would have been nice, but you can't have everything! Though quite busy, lift queues were limited. Very picturesque with many runs through the trees. I have rated the Apres Ski average simply because I was too tired (and too old) to participate (heading straight for the bar in the hotel) but understand there are a good selection of bars (including a nearby micro-brewery) and plentiful clubs for those with surplus energy.

Lovely little hotel... - 02/01/2014
Overall

We spent Christmas week (2013) here and were very comfortable. Our family room with balcony was a good size and very warm. Some hooks on the wall for ski jackets would have been useful but we managed. The bathroom was small with a narrow bath and no shower curtain but this wasn't a huge issue and hot water was plentiful. The evening meal was extremely good with charming serving staff - four courses every evening. Breakfast was adequate but not very imaginative. The hotel is furnished in an Alpine style and is very clean and warm. We drank at the small bar every evening whilst using the free wifi available around the lounge area. There was a friendly atmosphere about the hotel and we would return. The bars and shops of the town are only 5 minutes away. Pleney and Super Morzine lifts are both very close - about 6 mins walk. We hired our gear from Sports 2000 and left it there rather than the hotel which meant less walking in ski boots. Morzine is a good place to stay and is a proper town, not a purpose-built resort. Although at 1000m is lowish, Avoriaz (1800m) is easily accessed.

Bel'Alpe March 2011 - 12/04/2011
Overall

The hotel is fairly close to the lifts and ski hire so getting to and from the slopes each day is fairly easy. Annoyingly the baths in the rooms are small and, unless you have a shower cubicle seperately, there are no shower curtains or anywhere to hang the shower. The food was good quality and very varied although some of the french/english translations on the set menu were a little odd. Morzine is really good and has lots going on. Normally the skiing would be excellent but the lack of snow this year was probelmatic. Skiing down a mud slope searching for a spot of slush rather than grass to turn on was a drag. At the tops of the hills the conditions were good though. I can recommend the 2 crickets as somewhere to eat if you are near the Troncs lift system.

This was a last minute booking and the hotel was a 2 star - not usually something we would have considered. What a pleasant surprise! The hotel was clean, welcoming and the food was excellent. In particular the waiting staff at mealtimes were friendly, helpful and chatty. The rooms were basic but functional and extra pillows not a problem. Plentiful hot water - a must on a ski holiday! We were there Jan/Feb - snow conditions were poor but the resort worked hard with what they had - the link to Avoriaz was quick and queues at a minimum. Great resort - would return without hesitation if better snow!
