Alpe d'Huez ticks all the boxes for a ski holiday. Short transfer (under 2 hours), large ski area (250km with opportunity to go over to neighbouring Les Deux Alpes for the day), and skiing for all abilities. With lots of gentle runs around the town it is perfect for beginners as it is easy for them to ski around with the more advanced skiers, be sure to try out La Sarenne, the longest black run in the world! If your legs can handle it! The apres is also great with a Folie Douce up the mountain and an ice rink in the town which is always great fun! There is a strip down Rue du Coulet with lots of bars and clubs if you want to carry the party into the night!

Alpe d'Huez is my favourite french resort & not just because of the south-facing slopes & Follie Douce! The ski area is fantastic - perfect for beginners & advanced skiers alike. The nursery slopes are excellent & the resort also boasts the longest black run in Europe - La Sarenne. There is also some fantastic off-piste to be found off the summit of Pic Blanc. There is some fantastic apres in the resort, as well as some fantastic traditional restaurants for a great meal. The resort is excellent for families & groups alike; there is something for everyone!

This year (2018/19) the snow was good, even late in the season. The lifts are well linked and queues were minimal. The accommodation (the Escapade) was well run and even on the staff's day off we received a cooked breakfast and a full range of items for tea! It is a ski in ski out chalet the only drawback was that second sitting for dinner was too late,20.30. The bucket lift through the town closed too early restricting access to the spa centre and the night skiing venue. The two drag lifts on the upper plateau could be better linked, the only traverse was prone to avalanches!
