As soon as you get on the mountain, you'll understand why the resort is called Heavenly. You can be standing in deep snow and on one side have the view of Lake Tahoe, and on the other side, you have the desert of Nevada - such contrasts but really beautiful! If you've got time to extend your trip, I'd recommend hiring a car and either start or end your trip with a few days exploring San Francisco.
