The Hoff - 10/11/2011
Overall

Went to Mayrhofen for Christmas 2009. I'd have to say this is thus far my favourite ski resort; however as a more experienced skier now I'm not so sure I'd enjoy it as much now. I'd say if you are a keen beginner or timid intermediate or someone who doesn't feel the need to cover mile after mile of piste go and I'm sure you'll love it. If you crave distance you may get a little bored. The Apres, character, Charm, friendliness, Ski school was all first class. As too was the hotel Kramirwert. A lovely place and nice for couples or party goers alike.

Ski holidays to Mayrhofen - 06/06/2011
Overall

Manni's is a really nice hotel and we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff. The rooftop pool and hot tub are out of this world and a great way to end the day, with amazing views of the surrounding mountains as the sun goes down. It's a few minutes walk to the Penken Gondola and be sure to stop at Gasser, the butchers (opposite the Penken) for a hot pork sandwich or to pick up something good for lunch. The skiing is great and there are plenty of great value huts on the mountain to stop for lunch and a gluvine. At the end of the day stop of for some après ski at the Elchbar (top of the Penken) and enjoy some cheesy euro beats and gluvine. If that gets you in the mood, at the bottom of the gondola you'll find yourself dancing on tables in the Icebar being served shots by a wolf! Definitely going back to Mayrhofen!

Hotel Neue Post - 10/04/2011
Overall

Lovely 4* hotel in the bottom of town, around a 10 minute walk up to the lift, but Mayrhofen is very pleasant to stroll through and there is always the bus. We went for the Snowbombing festival and the Neue Post is right next to the best venue, in a great location. Lovely clean rooms, very nice staff, and great little wellness areas with two saunas, a steam room and a small pool for relaxing. Will certainly be staying here again next year!

Did Xmas 08 here and can't say enough good things. I think the Hüttes up on the mountains are far better than most resorts and the aprés sessions at Brücke and Icebar rival St Anton without the hassle of having to ski down after 15 Jaeger bombs. The skiing is vast and a day at Zell am Ziller and another at the Hintertux glacier are hardly enough. I'll be back for more; sorry St Anton our love affair is over.

I'm 65 and have been skiing regularly in Marhofen since 1972. I've visited many other resorts in France, Italy Austria and Switzerland and enjoyed most of them. But Mayrhofen has it all: snowsure slopes with a glacier on hand, and an excellent ambiance for all ages. Great for snowboarders, too. The resort keeps expanding, has an excellent ski school for children and the people are extremely friendly. Set at the head of the pretty Zillertal Valley, it is my second home anywhere in the world. A great Christmas and New atmosphere, I can't wait for a beer in the Happy End and a strudel and hot chocolate in the Cafe Kostner. Heaven. Great for non skiers as well. Enjoy.
