It's been rated at 3 star and I would say that's a decent assessment. I would make a direct comparison with the MGM Meribel which is 4 star. The apartments are clean. Dependent on which apartment you get then some have a cooker and others just a hob. In fairness the value of the resort is phenomenal so eating out is the preferred option although there is a restaurant on site.
Lovely touches are the swimming pool and the AWESOME massages! Cost about £40, steep for Bulgaria, but worth it after hard day on the slopes.
The bar area is very small but the bar man is very accommodating and served us well and anticipated our drinks orders. Nice personal touch.
Would highly recommend a stay in Bankso. It's insanely busy Christmas, NY and Half Term. Go on Facebook and find the Bankso Notice Board and they will advise you on how to make the most of your stay in busy times, we paid extra and arranged a private transfer up onto the mountain with our kids; as it's a long queue in the morning for gondola. Also, if having lessons don't do group in busy periods pay the extra an get a private tutor, group lessons overcrowded and if no benifit. This is standard across Europe.
The apres ski is amazing but expect to pay U.K. High street prices if you are drinking on the "strip" the area around the gondola. My advise, head into the old town *15min walk; and get your beer at a fraction of the price! Stay away from the "strip" and the tourist traps!
Up by the gondola it's a bit "tacky" - see "Blackpool" type vibe, but the old town is were the magic happens! Worth your time and effort to find the old town!
Back on the the apartments they are 300m max from the gondola, and they are in a gated area, and in courtyard setting.
Outstanding value for money.
