great value family holiday - 08/04/2011
Overall

We decided in November that it would be a good idea to get some skiing done over Christmas before the season started back at Glencoe, to give the kids a fun introduction. We booked last minute and got a great deal for Alpbach, bed and breakfast at Guesthaus Furstenhof. We had a great flight from Edinburgh and the transfer with Crystal went fine too. We had a lovely breakfast the next morning and then headed for the hill. This was no mean feat with a 3 and 4 year old but it worked really well with the shuttle bus. It was a fantastic set up at the resort with a drop in creche at the top of the mountain, so we could ski with the kids for an hour then they could have a play in the creche before we took them out to ski again. When we arrived in Alpbach it was a balmy 0 degrees as it had been baltic at home for weeks, this made it more enjoyable for the kids, it snowed on Christmas eve so as us grown ups could enjoy some powder. We found it to be good value to eat on the mountain as two main courses would feed the four of us no problem, the food in the hotel next door to our guesthaus was also great and they even did carry out pizza for the evenings the kids were too tired to venture out. We spent christmas in the resort and it was a lovely setting to take in a really enjoyable low key christmas. We all had a fantastic holiday and it was a great way to get the kids started. If would definately consider doing the same thing next year.

Apres Ski: 4/5
