The Seehotel Sissi is a great-value pick in Zell am See. It’s right next to the lake and around 10 minutes’ walk from the City Xpress gondola, which will whisk you straight to the heart of the ski area.
The outside of the hotel is traditionally Austrian, with wooden balconies and colourful shutters, but the inside is all modern. The rooms are inspired by nature, so you’ll find a mix of light and dark wood, splashes of green and artworks that show forests and flowers. Lots of the rooms also have a balcony, and some even have views of the lake.
There aren’t too many facilities here, though there is a sauna and a terrace where you can relax at the end of the day. And you’ll get a good buffet breakfast to set you up, before you head off to explore one of Austria’s most cosmopolitan ski resorts.
