Amazing week - 15/02/2022
Overall

We stayed at the Crazy Reindeer and had a brilliant week. Room was clean and tidy, and food was good, although typical ski resort buffet style. The week was fantastic. The slopes suit beginner and inexperienced better than advanced, but there are still some challenging runs and a World Cup black. We went on a snowmobile excursion, and husky driving and both were really amazing. Also rented a fat one for another novel adventure. Skies cleared at the end of the week for a lovely showing of the Aurora. It’s cold though, so be well prepared. We saw it as low as -24. A thoroughly great holiday.

This was our second visit to Levi and The Crazy Reindeer and it did not disappoint. The Crazy Reindeer is a lovely hotel, whilst the rooms are not huge they have everything you need; comfy beds, drying cabinet, and loads of storage space. Our bathroom was huge with a lovely double headed shower that always had loads of hot water. There are plentiful amounts of food to suit all palates both at breakfast and dinner. Our only slight niggle was that on arrival we found out that our room wasn't in the main hotel block. We were in an annex that was 100m from the main building so every time we headed to breakfast or dinner we had to get togged up in our warm clothes and boots. Whilst this wasn't a huge problem it would have been nice to know that we weren't in the main building before leaving the UK so we could have packed accordingly. Although this year we didn't use the gym or sauna I wouldn't have liked the idea of having to put on lots of clothing to walk across to then strip off and use the facilities and then get re-togged to get back to our room! We were extremely lucky with the weather this year as for a number of days we had beautiful blue sky and sunshine. We also saw the Northern Lights which were amazing. Apres-ski is good. There are a number of good bars. It is nice to wander around the village looking for souvenirs and ski wear. Renting boots and skis is painless. They offer a good selection of up-to-date equipment and are always happy to offer any advice and change anything that doesn't fit. You do have to remember that eating/drinking out is expensive - a beer and a gin and tonic was 18 euros. We love it here and have already planned to go again in 2020.
