Chalet Les Eterlous, Alpe D'Huez, France
An excellent choice for ski convenience, Les Eterlous is situated in the Quartier des Bergers. The Alpauris chair and the ski school meeting point are just 220 metres (approx.) away and there is also a handy selection of shops and bars close by.
You may find yourself with your feet up in front of the open fire listening to just how difficult the final part of the Sarenne run proved to be. The chalet benefits from a sauna and steam room. All rooms have en suite bathrooms and rooms 1-4 have recently been completely refurbished with a superior finish. Don’t leave it too late to book or you may be disappointed.

Chalet Les Eterlous Reviews
Good sized chalet, but looked 'tired' - in need of refurbishment. 1 family left after the first night as their loo smelt. Chalet staff did not integrate at all, offer any advice, less than friendly, appeared not interested. we would usually tip at the end of the week but felt no need. One meal was inadequete, the rest quite good, but not enough food especially for kids needing energy. The weather was great and the resort very skiable, considering how the snow was disappearing fast.

We had taken a number of late-season holidays in the usual high French resorts - Val D'Isere, Tignes, La Plagne, Les Arcs etc etc, and thought that Alpe D'Huez might fit into the same category. Unfortunately, even though it is reasonably high, the fact that much of the ski-area sits in a largely south-facing bowl means that (based upon 2015 conditions anyway) it isn't really that great for a late-season holiday. Many runs deteriorated very quickly throughout the morning, and were also pretty busy, so cut up badly - ski-ing through great piles of slush not much fun! It was possible to find runs/areas which retained snow conditions a bit better, but very much a minority - if you discounted all the runs that you didn't want to ski on, you were left with a pretty small area. Notwithstanding that, the area was of a decent size and quite interesting and varied ski-ing, so might make a great destination for a bit earlier in the season. The end of town where we were (Bergers) was pretty ugly, but much more pleasant centrally, with a good range of bars and restaurants. Had a very nice meal in Pinnochio's - an Italian-style pizza/pasta joint. Large numbers of English guests - which you might think either a good or a bad thing... Can't think that I've ever been to a ski-resort anywhere and heard so many English voices! Food and drink up the mountain was universally good/excellent, and we found some lovely little places, and all staff seemed very helpful, cheerful and friendly - not always the case in French ski resorts! Chalet was adequate - communal rooms large and bedrooms (just about) OK, but decor and fitments very much in need of a facelift. Food in the chalet was excellent. Ray Baker - March 21-28 2015
