Les Chalets de L'Altiport Reviews
The Chalet is in a great position for the main lifts of Alpe D'huez and if the snow is good you can ski/board basically directly to the Chalet door. There are seats in the lounge so you can socialise with other guests before dinner and an open fire, although this wasn’t needed when I was there as it wasn’t cold enough. There is a room for you to store you boots and skis/board at the end of the day and there are boot warmers, although not always enough for all the guests boots if a full chalet. The only main complaint I had with the Chalet was with the bedrooms. I thought I was going to be getting a double bed and ended up with twin beds, which would have been fine if the two beds weren't completely different lengths and heights! This was mentioned to our chalet host but the problem wasn’t resolved. Other than that the bedrooms were very clean and so was the bathroom and I never had a problem with getting hot water for the shower. The rooms don’t have locks on the door but I did not find this to be a problem. If you are on the main floor of the chalet along with the kitchen this can get a bit noisy in the mornings when the hosts are cooking breakfast. The meals provided by the chalet were on the whole very good, the cakes in the afternoon were always very tasty and they do cook some French dishes including tartiflette. It would have been nice to have got some pastries with breakfast some mornings, as it mentioned on the website, as we are in France after all! There is a bus stop right outside the group of chalets which goes straight into town to restaurants and bars the last bus leaving at 21.50. We did find that there doesn’t seem to be any taxis home, but the walk is only about 20-25 minutes. Overall I had a great week staying at Altiport, our chalet hosts were very welcoming and talkative and happy to answer and questions I had. If the snow is good I would recommend the runs near oz en oisens and mont frais as those areas of the mountains are very beautiful.
