Overall

We booked Chalet Alaska in Morzine with VIP Chalets via Iglu Ski. Although snow conditions weren't great we had a fantastic time. Chalet Alaska is furnished to a very high standard - from the squashy, chocolate brown sofas in the lounge area to the L'Occitane toiletries provided in the bathroom! The chalet staff were excellent - it was a real delight to be able have a choice of starters and main course every evening; and to have your selection of breakfast items cooked just for you in the morning - even if you did have to order it the night before, following a delicious 3 course evening meal - preceded by canapes and fizz, and followed by chocolate and cheese. The food really was tremendous. Morzine was a great place to stay - Chalet Alaska is perfectly positioned for the SuperMorzine bubble to take you over to Avoriaz or if you're feeling adventurous right over to Switzerland, alternatively we could walk for 5 minutes over the road and spend the day exploring the slopes of Morzine and Les Gets. Probably not an ideal resort for advanced skiers as the slopes aren't particularly challenging; although we didn't get to try any off piste as it was all tracked out. That said, it looks like it should be a great place for people who want to try off-piste skiing as there should be plenty of opportunities to ski between pistes - assuming there is snow to ski on! We will definitely book again next year.

Morzine alaska lodge - early Feb 2011 - 12/04/2011
Overall

The property itself was absolutely lovely - truly luxurious. It's a modern building, off the main road, so you're right in the centre of town which is really convinient for shops and bars, but it's obviously not the conventional "chocolate box" chalet if that's what you're after. All the rooms were a really decent size - such a change from so many chalets, with really lovely modern bathrooms. The sitting room was large enough to fit all the guests comfortably, with big roomy sofas, balcony and tv. The hot tub and sauna suite downstairs was an added bonus. The chalet hosts were wonderful - really friendly but extremely professional - we loved everything they cooked and the only challenge was stopping eating! The lifts were extremely close by, as were ski hire shops, and there were lots of pubs, bars and restaurants nearby. We were a bit unlucky with the snow went we went, but so was most of the Alps, and given it was a lower resort, Morzine was actually better prepared than many to get the snow cannons going and maintain the runs. Overall - this property gave us a fabulous holiday!
