Located high in the Maurienne Valley, St Jean d’Arves is a quaint, traditional village which is part of the superb Les Sybelles ski area which offers 310km of uncrowded pistes. St Jean d’Arves has a fantastic setting, amidst unspoilt, natural scenery. It shares the valley of L'Arvan with its larger sister resort of St Sorlin d’Arves and a five minute ski bus journey links up the two villages. It also links with La Toussuire (1750m) and Le Corbier (1550m) in the ski area.

Skiing in St Jean d’Arves
St Jean d’Arves is a delightful and great value resort. It’s the quieter of the villages in Les Sybelles and an ideal choice for families, as well as beginners and intermediates. The skiing kindergarten caters for children from 3 years old with a special ski area whilst novice skiers can enjoy the fact that the majority of the slopes are for beginners.
Snow conditions in St Jean d’Arves
The resort’s ski lifts go as high as 2260m above seal level making its snow coverage reliable and skiing back to the resort is usually possible as its resort altitude is at 1600m. Plus it has 233 snow cannons over 24km of its slopes.
Après ski, restaurants and other activities in St Jean d’Arves
As St Jean d’Arves is has a central role in agricultural activity, you can try the guided tours and cheese tasting in the local fromagerie. Other activities to try in resort are snow biking, skijoring, paragliding and snowshoeing.
The nightlife in the resort is low key, with a good selection of excellent value for money bars and restaurants. La Grenouille has a good, lively après ski atmosphere, whilst L'Oule Rouge restaurant is popular for traditional cuisine and Le Skwal is good for seafood specialities.

Great choice of runs for intermediates over a large area, however if you are after a resort with a busy night life then don't go. This resort is great for families. Not the most expensive either and can be done on a budget.
