Hotel Avancher, Val d'Isere, France

Recently returned from a week’s stay at Hotel Avancher. What a fabulous place. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, particularly our lovely waitress who put up with our attempts to speak in French. The restaurant, bar and ski/boot rooms are all excellent. We didn’t use the wellness area or jacuzzi. Our room was quiet (even though it was on the main road) and warm with a huge comfortable bed, and an excellent bathroom. The cleaning staff kept it immaculate throughout the week. The food in the restaurant was excellent (we were half board), and clearly has a good reputation given the number of additional diners who were not staying at the hotel. Although the hotel is rated at 3 stars, I think it is 4 star quality.

Loved this hotel - comfy beds, powerful shower, warm bathroom and a fantastic breakfast each morning. Could even ski right back to the back of the hotel! Would definitely come back here again. Only thing that was slightly disappointing was the half board evening meal, which was a bit limited, and you had to choose your menu for the whole week, when you arrived!
