Hotel Rheinischer Hof, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany
The Hotel Rheinischer Hof is all about amazing service. It’s been run by the same family for three generations, the staff will do anything they can to make you feel welcome, and they’re always looking for ways to improve even further.
You can’t miss the hotel’s distinctive red façade, and the inside is just as warm – this is a proper Bavarian hotel, complete with wood panelling and lots of cosy furnishings.
The rooms blend homeliness with modern touches, like flatscreen TVs, free WiFi and tablets full of information and tips. Plus, all of the rooms have a balcony. Some of the larger twin rooms are located in the Haus Windrose annexe, which is just opposite the main hotel.
When you’re not on the slopes, you can go for a dip in the covered outdoor pool, or unwind in the small wellness area, which has a sauna, steam room and relaxation area. Or you can sit in the bar and chat with the friendly staff.
Speaking of slopes, they’re easy enough to get to. There’s a bus stop right outside the hotel, and it’s just a couple of kilometres to the lifts. The resort centre is a little further away – around 15 minutes’ walk.

Austrian twin beds
Austrian twin beds are very common in Central Europe. They’re simply one large bed frame containing two single mattresses, both with separate duvets and linen sets, that cannot be separated. Separate twin beds are less common and can often be head to head beds, rather than side by side, if they are available.
