Sestriere - enjoyable resort, lovely friendly hotel - 15/03/2022
Overall

Sestriere itself doesn't have enough pistes for keen piste bashers but, given that slopes of neighbouring areas (Sauze d'Oulx and others) are not cut-off due to high winds, there is a considerable area to explore (just beware of the long poma which is the only way out of Sansicario). While the majority of the north-west facing slopes of the resort were skiable (much artificial snow), none of the south facing slopes had snow. The town itself is small but with enough cafes/bars to provide some variety. Anyone preferring quiet apres-ski would be happy with what is available but those wanting something more lively might want to give it a miss. Would happily go back to the Hotel Savoy Edelweiss which, although a bit old-fashioned in its appearance and would benefit from some updating in places, had very friendly staff and plenty of lovely food (and only 5 minutes to the nearest lift) - definitely recommended.

Apres Ski: 4/5
Accommodation & Value: 5/5
