Gaustablikk Kvitavatn Mountain Cabins - Gausta, Norway
When you picture the classic Scandi ski trip, you think snow-capped wooden cabins and nights getting cosy by the fire. Kvitåvatn Mountain Cabins are just the thing – simply furnished in true Norwegian style, they're homey and great for sharing meals then keeping toasty together after a day’s skiing.
You’re close to the slopes here and whether you’re hopping on a lift or nipping to the shop, the essentials are all conveniently close by. That also goes for the Gaustablikk Mountain Resort, where you’ll find a few other facilities. There’s Kirk’s Bar for an aprés tipple, or for a small fee you can unwind at the spa.
For a taste of real Scandinavian serenity though, paying a bit extra and booking a visit to the floating saunas is the way to go. A steam with an incredible view – this really is relaxing in style. Then, you can even embrace local tradition and hop right into the lake itself.
