Ski Holidays in Kicking Horse, Canada
This new resort, formerly known as Whitetooth, promises much.
Located above the town of Golden and 90 minutes drive from Lake Louise, ski holidays in Kicking Horse are perfect for a day trip or a few days at this stage. Until now a small area with a lone rinky-dink double chair-lift, Kicking Horse's new European owners have big plans for the area: no less than a 1200m gondola was completed for the 2000/01 season, six more chair-lifts, a flash eatery at the gondola top station and more than a smattering of condos and chalets clustered at the base. Spectacular views of the Rocky, Selkirk and Purcell mountain ranges will be found at the gondola summit as well as awesome ridgeline skiing off the Dogtooth range. This will compliment the wide green and blue and a few black routes already carved out lower down. Kicking Horse has serious cred among avid skiers who have been settling in Golden in droves over the past two years, their aim being to hike and ski the powdery fields above the current chair-lift. The area is renowned for its big snowfalls.
