Annual Ski Auction To Take Place At Christie's

Annual Ski Auction To Take Place At Christie's

Today Christie's, a London auction house, will be holding its 15th annual ski sale, with vintage ski posters and classic luggage items up for sale.

The Ski Sale, Travel In Style, boasts around 160 vintage and artistic posters offering nostalgic images of classic resorts such as Davos, St. Moritz, Chamonix, Zermatt and Cortina. Though modern prints can be found in most resorts, these classic pieces are expected to fetch between £2,000 and £15,000 as auction.

Do you have £15,000 spare for this lovely picture?

For serious skiers who want to boast some Alpine tourism history, or just love the look of these stunning posters, then the collection will most definitely be of interest. The posters range from the 1880s to the 1980s and feature some renowned and some rare pieces. If I had a few quid to spare, I'd love a couple of the posters on offer, but I'll have to stick to eeh cheap prints from the newsagents in Morzine for the time being!
