Sandrine Aubert produced a scintillating second run to snatch a third World Cup slalom title in Are on December 13th.
Following on from Tessa Worley's win the giant slalom, Aubert ensured that the Swedish stop on the World Cup calendar was a strong one for the French by finishing ahead of German sisters Maria and Susanne Riesch.
The 27-year-old was in second after the first of two runs, but then excelled as some fog began to descend on the piste to add to her two World Cup slalom victories late last season.
According to More Than The Games, Maria Riesch, who led after the first run and scooped gold in the opening slalom event of the season in Levi, said: "I would have preferred to win but I am really pleased with silver here.
"The conditions were just so tough out there. Perhaps I could have been a little cooler and more aggressive but I am happy to be on the podium and even happier to share it with my sister."
Aubert now lies fourth in the slalom World Cup standings, with Maria Riesch holding a 67-point lead at the top over the Czech Republic's Sarka Zahrobska.
