New for Val d’Isere in winter 2015/16

New for Val d’Isere in winter 2015/16 Val d’Isere is consistently one of our top selling ski resorts. Guests to the ski area love the wide variety of perfect pistes, the stunning mountain scenery, the sumptuous Savoyard delicacies and wide choice of après and activities.

Here’s what is new in resort this coming winter season...

Redevelopment of Solaise

The 2 year project costing over 16 Million Euros finally got underway this summer. From November 2016 the old Solaise Express 4 person chair lift & cable cart will be replaced by a modern 10 person gondola. Complete with luxury heated seats and wi-fi, the new lift will increase capacity by 40% and journey time will be just 7 minutes.

A giant magic carpet has replaced the old Terrasse button lift which will increase capacity and speed and also serve a new tubing area. The slope has also been regraded from around 16% to 7% making the Solaise area a secure learning area.

There is also a new day lodge at the top of the lift stations containing a café, picnic area, a sun terrace and toilets where you can relax and enjoy the spectacular views.

Sustainability

The lift company has taken every step to minimise the environmental impact of the project. The redevelopment reduces the number of lift stations from a total of eight with 34 pylons to just two with 16 pylons.

For every tree that has been cut down five others have been planted, and clumps of Sylène de Suède, a wild that grows naturally in the area of the new day lodge, have been carefully dug up and relocated nearby.

New Snowmaking Facilities

Le Snow Factory, near the Olympique gondola is the largest snowmaking facility in Europe, which helps keep the Val d’Isere slopes at world-class standards even in dry winters. The facility can cover an area the size of Wembley Stadium to a depth of half a metre in just 60 minutes.

New Chalets & Hotels

The luxurious 5 star Le Savioe is new for our winter 2015/16 programme. Situated near the town centre and main lifts it is a popular new choice for this ski season.

Restaurants

A new leisure and dining complex replaces La Perdrix Blanche this year. The complex includes a new Fondue restaurant, a permanent display of skis and a salon de the.

Bowling in Val d’Isere

The Hotel Les Barmes de l’Ours has a new 2 lane bowling alley, available to residents and residents of up to 12 people. The Hotel also includes a snooker table and mini kid’s club.
