Snow update: 1 Week To Go!

Snow update: 1 Week To Go! France has had a dry week for snow, but conditions are still great in many resorts. Val d’Isere, La Clusaz, Alpe d’Huez and Les 2 Alpes are opening this weekend. Les 2 Alpes is also opening its new snowpark ‘Freestyle Land’ with redesigned spaces, themed areas and different ability sections. The best opening day conditions will be in Chamonix which received 10cm of snow this week taking the snow depth to 50cm below and 150cm up top.

Over in Austria, Solden had 10cm of fresh snow this week which has topped up the snow base. With the sunshine and warmer temperatures across the Alps this week, the snow base across some Austrian glacial resorts is starting to recede but as the base is so good for this time of year there is still great skiing and snowboarding to be had.

Sweden had its first major snowfall of the season this week and winter in the USA is in full swing with many skiers and snowboarders celebrating Thanksgiving on the slopes. Japan has had large dumps of early season snow this week with Niseko receiving 40cm and Grand Hirafu will be opening this weekend.

Switzerland hasn’t had much new snow this week but as resorts are snowy enough to ski on already Andermatt and Crans Montana will open this weekend and Saas Fee still has good on piste conditions and is expecting more snow over the weekend.

Many Italian resorts are opening this weekend, the best conditions are in Val Senales with 25cm bottom base and 280cm up top and Champoluc with 40cm/110cm. A light dusting is forecasted over the Italian Alps in the next 3 days which will add to the already great early season snow base.
