Winter Sticks Around For Another Month

Winter Sticks Around For Another Month

If you're thinking about a last minute ski trip this season, this week’s forecast will surely tip the balance in your favour. This week (and no doubt the week after) will have the best end of season conditions we can recall for many, many seasons.

It may be officially spring but winter has refused to release its grip on the mountains across Europe. So let's crack on with what you need to know: the amount of snow base you can expect & the amount of snow due to fall.

Snow Forecast

It will snow again in all resorts across Europe this week, with some resorts expecting half a metre, but obviously the higher up you go, the better the snow base, so we've included the bases too in this week's forecast.

France

In France you can expect 20-30cm snow to hit most resorts next week. Here's how the base snow is looking right now across the French resorts.

  • Alpe d'Huez: 4 metres
  • Espace Killy (Val d'Isere, Tignes): 3 metres
  • Three Valleys (Val Thorens, Meribel, Courchevel): VT 3 metres Meribel & Courchevel 2 metres
  • Paradiski (La Plagne, Les Arcs) 2 metres
  • Porte De Soleil (Avoriaz, Morzine, Let Gets): Avoriaz & Morzine 3 metres Les Gets 2 metres
  • Les Deux Alpes: 2 metres
  • Chamonix: 3 metres

Austria

Snow is expected to fall with most Austrian resorts seeing around 30cm of fresh pow — and incredibly Solden is predicting over half a metre this week!

  • Arlberg ski area (Lech, St Anton, Zurs) 2 metres
  • Solden 2 metres
  • Ischgl 1 metre
  • Obergurgl 1 metre

Italy

Yet again a great dusting of snow next week up to 30cm due across the Italian Alps.

  • Dolomiti ski area (Arabba, Selva) Arabba 2 metres Selva 1 metre
  • Milky Way (Sauze, Claviere, Sestriere) 1 metre
  • Cervinia 3 metres
  • La Thuile 3 metres
  • Livigno 2 metres

Snow Forecast

Switzerland

Switzerland is the place to be for the best new snow next week. Saas Fee is expecting half a metre, whilst a number of others are getting above 30cm.

  • Saas Fee 3 Metres
  • Zermatt 2 metres
  • Verbier 2 metres
  • St Moritz 1 metre

With the snow being so good and the ski lifts open longer (and being quieter), it's an unbelievable opportunity to hit the slopes. Some lucky people at Iglu are doing exactly this in the 3 Valleys this week, making the most of the great snow, whilst the other half of the team cannot wait till next week when they are off to La Plagne. You may not see these kinds of conditions again in April for many seasons to come. If only all ski seasons could be as good and as long as this one.
