Great choice! Fab resort, comfy hotel, very happy! - 31/03/2015
Overall

We were very happy with our choice of Les Deux Alpes and Hotel Les Lutins. Fab resort, good sized interesting town and great location and views that took our breath away! Hotel Les Lutins was a great central location, just across from ski lifts, next to shops and eateries, it was comfy and friendly and we would recommend it. Staff were friendly, rooms are a good size, spacious and simply furnished. Breakfast was continental style, good and plentiful. Les Deux Alpes really suited us both for skiing, it was easy to get around, wide range of ski areas and an area we would highly recommend to anyone.

Great budget holiday - 14/01/2015
Overall

Hotel Lutins was a good 2 star budget hotel less than 100m from the main resort gondolas. Even with poor snow we found enough variation in blues and reds to ski all week. Even with most of the low level runs being closed the resort staff worked night and day to maintain the runs that were open above 2000m in good condition. We would return to this resort and hotel in the future.

GREAT SKIING. NOT SO GREAT ACCOMMODATION. - 07/04/2014
Overall

Stayed for one week in Les Deux Alpes in Les Lutins B & B accommodation from 29 March 2014. We thoroughly enjoyed the ski area. We are average skiers and enjoy blue and red runs. We found the condition of the slopes to be good although it was very hot during our stay and by mid afternoon many of them were unavoidably slushy. It pays to figure out early on which slopes face in which direction and ski each of them at the most appropriate time of day. There were no queues to speak of except for the main Jandri lift first thing on opening so we were always able to get back up the mountain in double quick time. There are some lovely mountain restaurants and also some rather dreary ones so choose your lunch stop with care. There is a rather curious underground railway which you can ski to that runs from below the glacier up to the very top and removes the need to use the T bars and must come in to its own during the summer skiing months. We found the resort itself to be expensive - aren't they all - and all the restaurants sold the same 'traditional' food which we thought was rather boring and repetitive. We ate twice at a restaurant called La Porte d'a Cote and enjoyed the proper food served with vegetables and good wine, all at good value for money, much better than on the 'strip' - booking is advisable. As for Hotel Les Lutins, we found this accommodation to be like the Marie-Celeste. There was almost no staff except for one lady who gave out keys on arrival and served on at breakfast each day. On arrival we were all left standing out on the pavement like lemons because the door was locked. The lady in question then let us in and gave out keys with barely a word spoken. This continued for the whole week with no other staff in evidence and reception remained dark and unmanned. We were not welcomed or looked after in any way and we felt we were invisible and irrelevant for the whole of our stay. Our room was spacious and clean if very outdated and there was always plenty of hot water. No toiletries, hairdryer, tea/coffee things or TV are provided so it's essential to take your own stuff. Our beds were both uncomfortable due the mattresses being old and permanently dented in places and we both got up each morning with back ache - not something I can forgive or find an excuse for. The hotel is about 50m from the main Jandri lift. The staff in the bar spent much of their time chatting to locals at the end of the bar and I doubt they knew or cared whether we were guests or just random drinkers and once again we felt we were simply irrelevant. We enjoyed a ski away day trip to Serre Chevaliere which made a lovely change to our routine and involves a very picturesque coach journey through the mountains. Collecting our payment for this trip was the only time we saw our Neilson rep - apart from the welcome meeting in a dark and dreary back room/alcove in a local bar - as she too was conspicuous by her absence. In conclusion, we find it difficult to recommend Hotel Les Lutins and will not return but we thoroughly enjoyed our skiing.

the wonderful "Little Elves" - 16/02/2014
Overall

Les Lutins is a lovely hotel in the heart of the resort, only a short walk from the main Jandri Express. The family run hotel offers friendly and helpful service, with all needs catered for. Our room was very spacious, exceptionally clean and had a beautiful view of Muzelle mountain. The continental style breakfast was very good offering cereal, yogurt and freshly made bread, croissants and du pain. Each room has a secure locker for snow equipment. The hotel bar was lively but the noise did not impact on the hotel rooms. We would highly recommend Les Lutins hotel.
