Bankso skiing was very good, everyday conditions were excellent, but make sure you go up earlier if you can as the slopes do get slushly and clumping by late morning to lunchtime and can easily have a fall from those clumps on the slopes. We had no issues in queues for the gondola in the morning and found all chair lifts and drags were pleasant and efficient. There are some great long blue runs, or for the more adventurous go for the reds. Not much for the advanced skier if you are after the more difficult black runs. You can certainly have an enjoyable time there. Lots of restaurants and bars around on the slopes and reasonably priced on comparison to the bars you'd find in the Alps for example. Loved Bankso old town it had lots of bars and restaurants to pick from and lots of après ski activities such as bowling, wine tasting, ski-doo rides etc. to take part in. Some of the hotels are a little bit dated given a 4 or 5 star rating but still pleasant and comfortable to stay in. Great value for money and would recommend to everyone, but particularly to those less advanced and on more of a budget.

We were a group of 16 adults and 3 children and Bansko was the perfect resort for us. Bars and restaurants are very welcoming and family friendly and the skiing was excellent, with plenty of blue and red runs for the skiers among us.

Stayed 6 nights at Strazhite Hotel. Supposed 4* rating. Although good presentation, extremely poor catering. Very poor offering for breakfast. Lack of imagination, poorly presented, little/no variety for dinner. Buy your own soft drinks and water. Imagine watery baked beans, oily hard-baked fried eggs, a toaster that doesn't toast and a queue of 10 people. And no butter. Yep, just a base for skiing, but these little things matter- and so easy to remedy.

The overall weeks holiday was 10 out of 10 value for money. We stayed at the Kempinski and was impressed with the hotel, the ski facilities etc etc.... We had our doubts about Bulgaria from reports from other people, some justified ie. food 3 out of 10, but edible... hotel food was 7 out of 10 and expensive, but worth the extra.
