Europa Sport Ski Area
The Europa Sport Region Ski Area includes the two Austrian ski resorts of Kaprun and Zell am See offering a combined total of 130km of pistes, with 81 individual runs. The Europa Sport Region ski pass allows you to ski or snowboard in the ski resorts of Kaprun and Zell am See and on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier which is close to Kaprun. The glacier, with skiing above 2500 metres, guarantees great conditions throughout the season. There is a free ski bus that runs between the resorts and the glacier.
Ski resorts in the Europa Sport Ski Area
Kaprun is a pretty, traditional Alpine village. Kaprun offers a great choice of slopes for skiing or snowboarding and is just a short bus ride from the glacier. There are nursery slopes in the village and on the glacier. Skiing on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier is great for intermediates and beginners, there is a good range of wide reds and blues with a couple of black runs. There are several drag lifts so it not ideal for those learning to snowboard although there is just about enough terrain accessible by chairlifts if it is your first week on a board. The majority of Zell am See’s Schmittenhöhe are nice tree lined runs, again offering a good range of blues, reds and a couple of blacks. Zell am See has some challenging runs for a small area, but most intermediates will enjoy being able to explore the Kitzsteinhorn in addition to Schmittenhohe. Zell am See is larger than Kaprun and has an excellent selection of restaurants, bars and shops.
Access to the Europa Sport ski area is easy, as with many Austrian ski resorts, with Salzburg and Innsbruck within easy reach.
