Chalet Anne-Marie -Tignes - 24/04/2019
Overall

Arrived at Tignes, Chalet Anne Marie on Sunday 14th April. For Skiing holiday for myself and my 13-year-old son for Easter holiday. We have been skiing in the Tignes resort around 14 times now. In our opinion, it is the best place to Ski in Europe. The resort is so big and offers skiing for all levels, even now having come here so many times we are still finding ski runs we have not skied on. We have always gone Skiing with Skiworld, in the past, having left this holiday too late to book there was nothing left available to book with them so booked this holiday with Ski Total via Iglu Ski. To be honest was a bit apprehensive, using another Ski provider. We did not need to worry. We flew from Stansted into Champery Airport. Feel a bit embarrassed that I had not even heard of this Airport before, as we have always come into Grenoble Airport. From Grenoble its always a three and a half hour (we have often had longer) coach transfer. From Champery it’s a two-hour coach transfer. Grenoble airport we have ALWAYS found to be very busy, mostly chaotic, in February half term it took two hours to get to passport control standing in a line as six airplanes had landed at once, it was the same at Grenoble, when we came out here in January as well. This was not the case at Chambrey, this airport is small as is Grenoble but apparently its only Chartered flights that come into Chambray so its much quicker. We were straight out of the airport I mean literally straight out no ques at all; our bags came out immediately we went straight onto the Ski Total coach which left almost immediately. was so impressed if this alone is how Ski Total operate all the time we would use them again for this reason alone. We arrived at the Chalet, the two Chalet hosts, Matthew and Annie, met us helped us with our bags etc., The Room: we stayed in Room no. 1. This is on the ground floor right opposite the boot room. I would strongly recommend if you do book a room in this Chalet, that you avoid this room. As its on the ground floor everybody coming in and out of the chalet can see through the window into the room, so we had to keep the curtains pulled all the time which was depressing. Also, being on the ground floor you are disturbed by everyone coming in and out of the chalet, the bread was delivered every day at 5am, the staff whilst extremely quite coming in at around 7am, then everyone in the boot room going out to ski, so lay in was hard work. But the rest of the rooms are on the first and second floor, so you would not be disturbed/have this inconvenience in those rooms, I am only noting this as an observation to note for anyone considering booking a room in this Chalet. The Chalet is a bit tired and needs a bit of an update/ refurbishment, the boot room is a mess, but serviceable. It was clean and warm and had all the things you need for your holiday. The Rooms are small as are most rooms, in skiing Chalets and as usual with Skiing accommodation there was not enough wardrobe space no shelves etc, and why do they never put enough hooks in any of the rooms, the lighting was good as well. in Chalets. The beds although firm were comfortable, and we slept well in them. The ensuite again tired and in need of refurb but fully serviceable, and clean. The shower was tiny, I am slim and could get in but no room when you were in it. There was good water pressure. From the Chalet it is only a very short walk, to the Piste, via a gap between two buildings on the opposite side of the road, you can ski back to this area from Chaudannes. But as It was quite slushy at the end of the day on the runs coming back as it was so hot out here this week. I walked back three days from the Maison De Tignes, it’s a very easy walk back from there all downhill. The Food, OMG, was so good. Our Chef was an exceptional cook, it’s the best food we have ever had on a Skiing holiday ever. The staff were amazing they could not do enough for you the service they provided was excellent. There is a fridge on the dining room floor you can help yourself from, it had everything in it you could wish for, drinks (accept fizzy ones) ham cheese, and they had Hellman’s mayonnaise (that’s a first) and the Fridge was spotlessly clean and did not smell that’s a first for us as well and we have stayed in five star plus Chalets that costs a fortune and not had that! small thing but that impressed me and showed how much the staff care. There is also an honesty bar in the sitting room which was useful. There was plenty of delicious pain au chocolates and croissants every day to help yourself to the cakes at afternoon tea were lovely and they also had normal bread here as well as French bread, with a toaster. Only thing that was really missing was a microwave. There isn’t one in the Chalet. The Ski Total Rep was here every day to see that we were all ok and was very helpful. The Dining Room and sitting room are on separate floors which for me I am not keen on but that’s a personal thing. The dining room has four tables and we were all seated in room numbers on each table so sat at the same tables every night, to be honest, I didn’t like that as would love to have moved tables so that you could dine/socialise with other people in the Chalet.
