Hotel Cristallo, Courmayeur, Italy

Back in 1976, I and three friends made our first journey outside the US. We allowed our Italian Friend (also an American) to select all of the flights, transfers and accommodations for one week of skiing in the Europe. He chose Courmayeur and the Hotel Cristallo. None of us had heard of the this place nor the Hotel. So with reckless abandon we boarded the flight in Huntington, WV headed for Milan, Italy for the trip of our lives. Fast forward, we totally enjoyed the trip to Courmayeur as the skiing was world class and staying at the Hotel Cristallo was excellent! We were treated like Kings and the accommodations met our needs... especially the snow filled balcony in which we cooled our local Italian Wine we purchased from the shop across the street. The meals were good and the atmosphere was to die for... skiing all day... then coming back to the warm hotel for a great dinner and cappuccino brewed from an old copper kettle in the corner of the hotel lounge. You cannot make this stuff up... it was awesome... I hope to revisit Courmayeur and the Hotel Cristallo one day to enjoy the memory and the thoughts of our first trip outside the US. Sincerely, Jack
