Snow Conditions in Switzerland (05 October 2015)
Switzerland was offering some incredible skiing on Monday 5th October thanks to sunny skies and a lot of fresh snowfall over the weekend. Saas Fee (130cm) was reporting around 60cm of new snow on Sunday, with Zermatt (149cm) not far behind with 40cm. The conditions on piste were excellent and there were even some off piste powder stashes on safer areas of the glacier. Piste number 73 (Gandegg) was open on Monday for the first time since the spring at Zermatt, allowing for skiers to ski right down to Trockener Steg at 2,939m – giving a run of almost 1,000 vertical metres. More snow is forecast for the rest of the week, initially above 3,000m but by Thursday the snow level should have dropped to around 2,500m.
