Overall

There is extensive terrain for all levels. The beginners is right at the bottom of the slopes - flat, wide and pisted. Great for first timers to get confidence. Trails are well signed. The base lodges are OK - a little expensive and a limited menu to pizza, chilli dogs, fries, but you are able to take your own lunch/sandwiches etc - lots do. A car is not essential but strongly recommended as the shuttle service can be sporadic. The Killington road is about 4-5 miles long and this is where 95% of the hotels, bars and restaurants are. Also with a car you can drive to Pico in about 10-15 mins. Also take a trip to Rutland about 25-30 minutes for a days shopping. Everywhere is child friendly. There is a wide choice of restaurants for good steak and ribs etc. Also lots of places do happy hours with various offers. Lots of people take their own packed lunch and leave it at the base lodges and there are 2 delis/small supermarkets to buy supplies. Pico can be very quiet and is a good choice for a weekend day. Even when its crowded, the queues move quickly and every one is friendly and laid back - no pushing and shoving. It is a good all round resort - large terrain if you cover some distance, good for beginners, good choice of restaurants and excellent snow making facilities which ensure some decent skiing even in the poorest seasons.
